So, let’s start with the basics.
What is Google Bard AI?
On 7th February 2023, Monday around 4.30 PM IST Google introduced the Bard – A experimental conversational AI service, powered by LaMDA. As per Google’s tweet, “It is still in developing mode, uses web searches to gather the information, and makes complex things simple.”
Google posted a blog introducing Bard and mentioned how they will be developing generative AI using its two-year ago launched LaMDA. They mentioned that they have been working on an experimental conversational AI service using the software. And now, they are taking a step forward and testing the Bard.
Yes, Google has invited trusted testers, to use Google Bard and give their feedback on the service. Then, moving ahead, it will combine the feedback from in-house and invited testers to make Bard’s responses meet a high bar for quality, safety, and groundedness in real-world information.
Google’s Bard is currently not available to everyone for use. However, it can be available in the coming weeks. As per Google’s announcement, the company has been working on AI development since the unveiling of LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications).
Till now it has launched multiple AI services like PaLM, Imagen, and MusicLM. While launching the Google stated, “Bard can be an outlet for creativity, and a launchpad for curiosity, helping you to explain new discoveries from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to a 9-year-old, or learn more about the best strikers in football right now, and then get drills to build your skills.”

Another example given by Google about the Bard AI was a snippet on how it will look on the SERP. You can see in the screenshot how the search engine answered a question, “is piano or guitar easier to learn and how much practice does each need?” The answer to the asked question is answered in the simplest way possible.Â
Sundar Pichai tweeted, “Developers can soon try our Generative Language API, initially powered by LaMDA with a range of models to follow. Over time, our goal is to create a set of tools and APIs that will make it easy for others to build more innovative applications with AI.”
